Established in 2000 in Kilifi County on the Kenyan coast as a community-based study of >198,000 (~261,900 by 2011, ~300,000+ now) residents. Linked to morbidity and mortality surveillance at Kilifi County Hospital, with continuous demographic surveillance organised by enumeration zones. A flagship KEMRI-Wellcome platform supporting major paediatric infectious-disease, vaccine and genomic research.
