About this cohort

Initiated in 2002 (recruitment 2003–2009) across 27 high-, middle- and low-income countries; African sites include South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. Multi-country open cohort of >225,000 adults aged 35–70 followed up every three years to study how societal, environmental and biological factors influence cardiovascular and other NCDs. Coordinated globally by PHRI/McMaster, Hamilton, Canada.
