About this cohort

Long-running open population cohort initiated in 1998 across 12 sites in Manicaland province, eastern Zimbabwe, sampling diverse socio-economic strata. Six survey rounds (1998–2013) collected household censuses, interviews with HIV testing, verbal autopsies, and antenatal-clinic dried blood spot samples to track HIV prevalence, incidence and HIV-related mortality. ~9,100 baseline participants; provides one of Africa's longest HIV transmission-dynamics datasets.
