Established in 2014 in the Agincourt sub-district, Mpumalanga, South Africa, as an HRS-harmonised longitudinal cohort of 5,059 men and women aged 40+. Nested in the MRC/Wits Agincourt HDSS, HAALSI monitors social, economic and biological risks for cardiovascular disease, HIV, cognitive function and dementia. A leading platform for ageing research across the African continent.
