About this cohort

Intergenerational cohort launched in 2021 to study mental and physical health of Malawian families. Recruits pregnant women and their families across the rural Chilumba site (within Karonga HDSS) and the urban Lilongwe Area 25 MEIRU site; ~1,500 families enrolled as of 2023. Combines biological, cognitive, and self-report measures with linkage to existing research data.
