About this cohort

Established in 2003 in Entebbe, Uganda, EMaBS is a randomised trial-turned-birth cohort of ~2,500 mother-infant pairs investigating effects of helminth infections and deworming during pregnancy and early childhood on immunity, vaccine responses, infection and allergy. Original interventions concluded at child age 5, with follow-up extending into adolescence and adulthood. Now a key platform for early-life-exposure and life-course research in a tropical setting.
